Looking to the Future

I can't believe how fast time has flown. The election is over. Fall is over. And soon enough, my senior year in college will be over.

This semester has been different for me in a couple of ways, but definitely for the better! I've had more time to concentrate on school work, with not participating in an internship or constantly working (like earlier in the semester). Sometimes you just have to prioritize and realize what is most important to you at the moment, and go from there.

I have been doing really well in my classes so far, and really enjoy most of them. My favorite by far has been my feature writing class, though. It has just been something so different than my marketing classes which seem to blend together more than ever now. While I still find some things interesting in the classes (advertising and sports marketing), I just feel like I have heard it all before.

With feature writing, though, there is always something waiting to be discovered. Each time we get an assignment for a particular story, we start out with a blank slate. We don't know anything, but by the time we are finished, we know absolutely everything. The next assignment comes along, and we start the process all over again.  I guess the fact that it is so involved makes it interesting. We have to come up with everything from the very idea/focus of the story to the structure and sources. There is always something new to learn each time around, and that is what makes it so neat!

As far as my next and final semester in college, my spring schedule will be interesting. Aside from taking my final five classes, I may participate in a last internship. Except this time, it will be a journalism one with the Kentucky Post online (which I did mention a couple months ago). I am supposed to contact him soon so we can go over details about it, so I am excited about that. Also, my feature writing professor asked me to be in an upper-level journalism class next semester in order to help her with an independent study she is conducting. If I actually do decide to take on the internship, though, I'm not sure I'd want a seventh class! So we will just have to see what happens.

After it is all said and done, I can't say where I will be in the summer. With all of these things ending - target employment, my final school year - other things will begin. And I can't wait to see just what everything has in store for me!
