The Book Bag of Whale Crackers and Marketing Advice

Well... it makes sense to EMG people.

These were my parting gifts from everyone at EMG since it was my last day there. I am truly thankful for this great opportunity to learn about the PR and marketing world - it has really meant a lot to me in so many ways!

As with anything in life, it was a journey with ups and downs. With great success comes great sacrifice and hard work. My experience with EMG has taught me many things, with one being to never give up. If you really want something, you will get it - it just takes hard work and persistence.

In the PR world, it is sometimes hard to feel accomplished and recognized as an expert in the field - after all, a lot of your work is attributed to someone else. But... that one day will come. It will all make sense to you. All of the hard work, motivation, and persistence will finally pay off. It will be worth it.

Another thing I learned is to never underestimate yourself just because you can't please everyone. Clients will come and go - that is life. You may have done a great thing for the client, even if they don't think so. So be it. It is important to take these experiences with a grain of salt and be grateful for what you have learned along the way.

I'm not sure where life will take me after my final year of school with finishing up marketing and journalism, but I can say I am excited about it!

And finally, I just want to thank everyone at EMG for being so welcoming and encouraging - you guys have taught me a lot along the way!

I guess this pretty much sums up anything else I'd have to say: (this was taken from my final paper I had to write for school regarding my internship experience):

"Overall, my experience at EMG was unlike any other job I have ever held. It allowed me to learn about marketing concepts with real businesses while helping me grow into a young marketing and public relations professional.

At this point, I don’t mind the public relations work, but different forms of marketing may be more up my alley. Also, my love for writing has resurfaced throughout this co-op; I really enjoy using my creativity in different pieces. These realizations will help me discover my true passion down the road in life. Since I enjoy writing and marketing, perhaps I could help write copy for advertisements. Or, perhaps I would love being a reporter or freelance writer of some sort. Whatever path I choose, I know that EMG will have helped me learn a lifetime’s worth along the way."
