What if someone were to tell you a pizza chain was going to sell 23 cent pizzas... for an entire day? Better yet, what if it were from Papa Johns?
Pizza is far from my favorite food, but I know I'd be eating a lot of it if I could get my hands on that deal - especially since every 23 cents spent on the pizza would be going to a good cause (Cavaliers Youth Fund). Also, another $10,000 from Papa Johns would be heading to this same youth fund.
But some people just don't want to have any part of this deal. There has to be a pretty good reason for me not to eat a whole pizza for 23 cents.
Here's the "good reason" why some people won't bite:
A Papa John's franchise in Washington D.C. decided to distribute t-shirts to Washington Wizards fans which named Lebron James as a "crybaby," with his respective #23 on the back side. Apparently, some Wizards player called him this name during a playoff game since James kept complaining about hard fouls. Naturally, Wizards fans started making fun of this. And some Wizards fans couldn't get enough of it - especially the one who owned a Papa Johns in D.C., deciding to make shirts making fun of "crybaby" Lebron.
While I really like Lebron, both as an athlete and role model, I don't see the huge deal about Papa Johns making these shirts. Sure, I think it wasn't the smartest move by the D.C. franchise. But am I going to stop buying pizza from ALL Papa Johns just because of ONE store that is not even near me? Probably not. The fact that the D.C. PJ called Lebron a crybaby wasn't any other of the chains' fault. But, I'm sure that the NE Ohio chains could get used to these PR stints by idiotic D.C. chains - more business for them!
For such a "bad taste" Papa Johns left in some Cavs fans' mouths, this was a pretty good PR move for them - one that I'm sure most people will be hungry for.
